Kolhapur corporation has developed four major gardens ie Tembalai hill area, Samratnagar gardens, Smrutivan in Takala area and pathway and garden at backside of Rankala lake.
In the year 2001, Kolhapur corporation has developed new garden of 1 acre area in E ward, Section No. 43, Tembalai hill area in city extension. The development work of this garden was started in June 2001 and completed in four months. First layout of garden was prepared and one pathway road of 7 ft wide and 675 ft long was constructed in the garden. One sand pit was constructed and filled with sand and various sport toys are fitted for children to play. A decorative cascade, colored fountains and electric lighting are provided in the garden.
Lawns and flower beds are prepared on large scale in the garden and various seasonal and perennial plants are planted. Total Rs. 6.50 lakhs were spent for the purpose. Out of this Rs. 5 lakhs were made available from local development program fund of Hon'ble M. P. Shri. Mandalik. Remaining expenditure was done through corporation's own funds.
This garden was inaugurated on 5-11-2001 and was opened for citizens.
